I just added a page where I’ve posted a couple paintings I’m working on…..I’m trying to get over how I hate people to see a painting before it’s done. So, here’s my attempt. Give me feedback!

I stumbled upon an awesome site a few weeks ago – Illustration Friday

Having been away from the required weekly illustrations that I was given while I at Montserrat, I thought I needed some motivation to create illustrations, rather than personal art. I can create personal art all day long – but I need some external motivation to illustrate. Afterall, isn’t “illustrating” your own ideas, nothing more than personal art?

So,  thats where Illustration Friday comes into play……The concept is that each Friday there is a new “topic” –  (hence the ‘Friday’ in Illustration Friday). Everyone posts their illustrations for that topic – and you’re given feedback by other artists. Much like it was in illustration courses in college – you’re exposed to so many different styles, impressions, and takes on a topic. That was one of my favorite things about college, and it’s an experience that illustrators rarely get in the ‘real’ world…..the opportunity to see what someone else would have done given the same assignment. I loved that. An opportunity to see how everyones mind can work so much differently given creative freedom…..  

 So, anyway, I’m going to try it out….try to find the time to keep the “creative juices flowing” every week…..
